Rain here hasnt stopped yet I think i'll be getting webbed feet soon.
but it has become much cooler and the'muggyness' has gone -in fact I had to put the heating on in the house for an hour this morning - maybe its old age catching up on me lol

HI,

Very good Simy...it has rained here today also, a line of storms went through around 5 pm and it will be cooler tomorrow and less humid. Slug appeared up on the railing, needing a drying with paper towels...then some more of his dinner.

Found some treats at the Dollar Tree - Meow Luv which I figured was a translation of a Chinese product. But it turned out to be made in Brazil and as I have a soft spot for that country, decided to try it. Slug loved them right away so I bought more. But then got a good price on some other treat and he wanted that for a while instead but luckily he reverted to the Luv.

You've had more rain than in our immediate area, Gil - all around us had storms over the last few weeks - those went on to Conn., Mass., Vermont, NH and Maine. It's all in the lie of the land. Alas, the orbit of our planet is pushing us to less daylight. I wish we would go on double daylight saving time like during WWII - why do we need to reduce our vitamin D intake by changing our clocks.

Hope you can get to some car races - even my mother has been noticing the classic cars on the road. I think of every car fan when I see them, wishing you could see them. Very nice jobs. Her brother drives his 1963 Chevy convertible around during the summer.

As I did ask my mother to pray for rain, I had better ask for relief for Emmy - there is some at least - maybe it just worked automagically.

Keep warm, Emmy - it's not just you needing warmth, Simy has her blanket - it's goofy weather. Have to ask my mother to keep you in her prayers too, Gil - for car races maybe.

Emmy, If you end up with webbed feet I hope you put a picture of them here. I don't know how you are getting so much rain. I couldn't believe how wet it was for the Olympics in London.

Dave, Thank you mother for her prayers. I think that they worked as I went over my friend's garage earlier in the evening and didn't even need to use oxygen on the way over and back. This happened a few weeks ago when I was over at my son's house and he was working on my car. He claimed that it was hot and muggy and wondered why I just didn't wait inside. I felt good and even got a bit of grease on my hands. My daughter came outside and said that she couldn't believe the she was seeing he dad working on his car again. My son beat me to the punch and said it hasn't been that long and it must have been because she hasn't been around.

Haven't been able to put the peppers outside lately (too cold) and all the baby peppers have fallen off. Only 5 of six plants have fruit (one each) and they are small. Even the lettuce I put in there is dying.

Our neighbor warned me about the deer eating her plants and sure enough while we were out (for another funeral), they ate up the Glamour plantings on the left of the garden. Just a few on the Beefsteak side are left and small because I didn't put them in until June.

Had to take a plastic screening to cover the top of the cages plus the burlap strip that used to make up the cats' hammock.

Gonna watch out and get after that rascal Jack (I know it's him - Jill is too shy)

Owens Orchards lost the majority of the apple crop and won't be having apple cider made behind the window at the store nor pick your own. Yet a few miles away (Beak and Skiff) in Skaneateles has a better crop than last year. All depends on the lie of the land.

Some good garlic though. Have to plant at the end of the month.

How are the gardens elsewhere?

Where did all of that hot and humid weather that we were complaining about not too long ago go? The weather changed so fast here you would think that the good Lord has an on/off switch up there. We have had a couple of days of extremely heavy rain. On Thursday there was a lot of flooding in a few shoreline towns closer to the New York State border. I saw pictures of cars stuck in water inches away from the top of the cars. The ground, wells and reservoirs all needed the water.

This is about the end of fresh fruits and vegetables around here too. We didn't have much of a peach season. Corn is mostly gone too. I guess it is only apples and various squash left.
