More news broke here today about the continuing loss of the glaciers in the Alps. This time it's the Matterhorn on the Italo/Swiss border. See the news item here:

I can remember the wondrous view of the Mont Blanc Glacier from the French side near Chamonix...it came down almost to the road leading up to the MB Tunnel.... But now it's just not there any more; and on the Italian side just above Courmayeur you can now for the first time EVER actually see the top of Monte Bianco. There is hardly any snow up there any more in the summer! Yet it never used to melt above the 3500m line!

We have so much to answer for on the damage we are causing to the World that we only have 'on loan'.

I'll second that. We are having an unprecedented hot spell here. It is really unpleasant - very hot and humid. July has been record breaking, and I just heard from a farmer that august is forcast to be worse. Strange things are afoot with the climate and it is quite worrying.

Would it be that "global warming" is finally showing the "naysayers" to be wrong??

I agree with you Marisa, The world is getting very messed up. The weather is very wierd anymore. We are having tornado's in November instead of May, June, and July. The past two years we have had tornado's in november. This is serious, I just hope everyone is paying attention and not just us!

Carole, seeing those photos is so sad. It is really frightening the way this is all being ignored.I really want to learn more about it.
I remember our trip to Switzerland and taking the lift up near the Matterhorn in the middle of July and having a snowball fight!
