I had to take both dogs down to get their yearly booster injections today. Gizzy got his OK but I've been told I must get him to lose more weight (I've to give him half the amount of food he's getting at present
d'oh! ) Seems his heart murmur has become worse.
The vet wouldnt give Bengy his booster jag today, he said he thought there was too much going on with him at the moment? Benjy must have come up against a prickly plant in the garden and it has caused an ulcer in his eye and now I've to put drops in 4xdailysounds easier than it is when you dont have anyone there to hold him, so I wrapped him in a blanket and then I managed ok. He's also had the diurectic increased to 3 per day. I've a feeling his kidneys arent right either but the vet did say Bengys definately not in any pain. I have to take him back on Thursday to have him checked over again and he may get the booster jag then. If he doesnt get it I think that's telling me a lot without the vet spelling anything out to me. I know he is a very sick wee dog at the moment. Fingers crossed for Thursday.

Sad to hear about your poor pets medical woes. I'm sure that we will have to put our younger of the cats on a diet once the vet sees him. Good luck!

Just tell me Gil why do we let our pets spoil them so much by giving them too much to eat and extra treats? I wonder if they were to feed us just what would I need to do to get them to give me what I would like e.g. a lovely big bar of chocolate -RIGHT NOW!!
Joking apart I have already started cutting down the amount of food etc I'm giving the dogs. (vet said to give them half the amount I was giving them at present) But now I have to put up with them whining when it is the time when they did get their 'treat'. I think it's worse for me than them.
Maybe you should start now with the cat before you go to the vet!! Think

I don't know why we do it. The older cat is always crying for more food. It is almost like he won't eat the stuff that has been in his bowl for a few hours. The young fat one eats what is there and only wines in the morning.

Well right now I'm getting prepared to go to the vet with Bengy and I hope he's able to get his booster injection today although in someways I dont think he really needs it because he only walks about in my garden -plenty of space for exercise and really doesnt come in contact with other dogs except Gizzy or when he's at the vet. But I've always felt I'd better to be safe than sorry.

ps there's nothing worse than having a pet look at you with those big sad eyes and crying for more reminds me of Oliver Twist. Very Happy

Hi Simy. Thanks for asking
I was smiling yesterday. vet was pleased with tihe improvement in Bengy since Tuesday It seems the diurectics are working (he has lost weight- but it will have been mostly fluid)BUT as the vet says Bengy is now on the maximum dose of diurectics for his size etc so come Sunday I have to cut the pills down to 2xdaily instead of 3 Hopefully he wont start gathering fluid again. I did ask if it was his kidney's but vet said No! its Bengy's heart that's causing all the problems so its really important to get him ot lose more weight. I have to take him back to the vet again next Thursday just to get a check.
will let you know what happens
Emmy
ps Bengy was so much better on Tuesday the vet did give him his booster injection! Dancing Dancing
