Rihgt now my new 'toy' hasnt even been out its box yet!!
I'll need to get my son to fix it up for me and then probably I'll need the youngest grandchildren to show me how to use it.
I've just said I dont like the dark nights but I guess the best time to use my new 'toy' will be when in the evening when it is dark.

Just what is it I've bought myself?

A big telescope!!!!!! Dancing Dancing Dancing

Who knows I just may finish up having a conversation with 'The Man in the Moon'

Gil
I'm looking! I'm looking! I'm looking!
but so far just with my spectacles on Very Happy and the only man I could see recently was the one that's in the moon. Dont think Simy would like to travel that far to meet him and I expect if 'he' came here to earth there would be no light from the moon at night#-o d'oh! d'oh! and we wouldnt want that happening=;

Now once I get the contraption up and running I may find her a companion from Mars and he may be able to bring Simy lots of treats. (Mars Bars for a start!!)

I've been searching for a new computer the past few days but I've given up d'oh! There's too much technology for me to understand what I'm doing--all these 'bytes'!!!! got completley lost so I've asked my son's friend to do the honours for me and he said he'd come and fix it up too. He knows me so I guess he'll recomend one I'll be able to use. (fingers crossed) Now its time I did all the backing up that's needing done.

Simy just let me know where you would like me to start searching

Emmy, How are you and what a wonderful thing to buy!!

My son has a super telecope with a 12" lens, yep, you read that right 12."

Right now he hasn't used it in a long time so it needs to be re-calibrated. It's quite big so it is mounted on a circular wood platform with wheels.

And Gil how are you? I saw some months back that you are on Facebook which is quite odd since I had told you that you ought to be and LOL, you already were! Very Happy

I guess the telescope I have will look like a toy compared to the one your son has.
So if I cant get to the see the moon/mars or the stars I guess the 'birds' in the next door garden will do me fine. May even be able to see the cows in the field just up the road a bit Dancing Dancing Dancing I'll have some fun .

Emmy were you able to see the lunar eclipse on the 21? My son and I were outside at 2:45 am having a field day and trying to take pictures. It was beautiful and I'm so glad I got to see it with my son.

Hi Nuccia
I missed all that, everything has been so horrible here lately with this weather etc my son hasnt managed to get time to sort everything out for me yet.
But today - I never ever thought I'd b saying this - I'm glad it seems to be starting to rain, keeping my fingers crossed it helps to melt the snow and finally let me get my car out. I havent been out in my car for almost 5 weeks now.

Love to all
Emmy

Well we've had amazing weather for winter and still I managed to stay inside almost my full holidays - and I wouldn't have it any other way! I accomplished so much (with my websites but the house - not so much).

Went back to work today but somehow it just doesn't feel the same there anymore.

Emmy,

That is a great thing to have. I hope you find someone to show you some of the celestial objects.

In an Astronomy course, the class met along a road away from city lights and the professor set up his reflector telescope so we all could see galaxies and nebulae - my favorite was a globular cluster: hundreds of millions of stars together. This was on the Fairfax-Bolinas Road, high on a hill - closed during the summer due to fire hazard.

Seeing photos and films do not match seeing them yourself. They don't seem real until you do. I remember thinking "Now I believe!" Unless the prof had some way of projecting in the telescope.

You'll have a lot of fun and wish for dark nights.

Dave

There was a three part programme on tV last week for beginners all about how to indentify stars/planets etc and when to excpect to be able to view them in your own area even with a weather forecast if there would be clear sky. But sadly my telescope is still in its box yet. I think I've been too busy watching all that white stuff falling from the sky!

On some occasions the temp here has been as low as -15 but mostly during the night or early morning. During daytime its been about -9 to -6 but its been better recently.
Last night it did rain but there was more snow this morning but not much thank goodness but I have been out today trying to clear another part of the driveway so if it does rain again hopefully it will leave a clear part to let me get the car out- at least that's my thinking but if it freezes again all I'll have done is to create my own skating rink.

When will your mum be 100yrs old?
Give her my love and tell her I remember her in my prayers.x
Emmy
