After all the frost we had I'm surprised at the amount of fruit I getting from my apple and plum trees the blackcurrants were poor but the others are making up for that.
Now its the picking of them- I'm harvesting the plums as soon as they become pink because the wasps are spoiling them if I leave them to fully ripen on the trees.
The apples are just super, and I'm supplying the family and some of the neighbours too.
One problem though -- I just cant remember what I said to those trees when we had that late frost -- maybe its their way of paying me back for providing the 'blankets' for them.

Glad to hear that the frosts didn't hurt your fruit crop! Most of the summer fruit around here has and is coming in a few weeks early because of the extremely hot weather this Summer. All of the berries were really sweet as are the peaches and nectarines.

Applause

I just cant believe the amount of plums I'm getting this year and they are a good size too. I've been out picking some more tonight and I think I will now have to make some plum jam as well as chutney so they dont go to waste.

Think Think Think Think
I wish I could find that magic wand I could wave and see the jam already in the jars!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Well what a shame no more plums on the trees. I miss going out into the garden and just picking a plum and eating it - but I cant complain had a very good crop this year fingers crossed for next year. Still got load of apples yet though, think my daughter+ family are coming along soon to pick the ones higher up on the trees. I'm definately going to have a few more apple crumbles though, before the apples are finished

Today I picked the one apple from the new trees I bought this year. Only one grew to a reasonable size (Braeburn apples) but hopefully next year I'll get a better crop. I have taken them out of the container/tub and my son planted them into the ground - reckon they will grow better there come the spring. Still have lemons, oranges and figs on the trees in the conservatory yet.

Next spring I've decided that once the frost has passed I'm going to put out all the citrus fruit trees outside (not in the greenhouse) just to see if they will still produce fruit, and that they'll survive- hopefully Pray

I really do need to get my consevatory back for human use Anxious

Was thing about making marmalade but decided just to buy a jar instead.
