I love my yard and especially my pond area. The season is just starting here and I've gotten a little jump on things. I'm a great one for building things myself and saw a great idea for a copper trellis (sort of) with hanging terra cotta pots so for Mothers Day I convinced my husband to come with me to the hardware store and picked out copper pipe and fittings for my design. He thought I was crazy but once we got going he was having a blast. The photo's posted only show a few pots but I'm getting ready to add many more....both on the front and the back of the trellis. When everything in my pond area is in bloom it's going to look spectacular with this new addition. I cut leather straps and used a
hand rivet gun to secure the pots.

When finished and installed in the ground my husband said......you are the only woman I know that gets excited to get plumbing supplies for Mothers Day Dancing

HI Liz
You're a woman after my own heart Liz that's one of the reasons I never throw anything out Applause but I've been told I've to change my ideas but we'll wait and see I think the family will be Brick wall Brick wall Brick wall where that's concerned with me.
You did a marvellous job you must take another photograph when you have it completed. How many more pots will you be able to get on it? What will be the maximum the frame will hold?
Looks like Buzzielizzies(impatients) Petunia's and Begonias (I have all these just about ready to be planted out)dont recognise the yellow flowers though?

Fantastic Liz

As an avid fellow gardener I must say I love your yard, Liz, especially the pond.

Em - I'll be adding at least 2 more 6" pots to the front a 2 8" pots. On the backside I'll be adding 6 - 6" pots 2 - 10" pots and 2 to 3 8" pots. The weight that it will hold is just a guess on my part so I'll have to play it by ear. I made the legs 2'-6" long and they are now buried 2 feet in to the ground to prevent swaying when it's windy.

Rosie - I love my pond area too. It's very peaceful sitting there and my husband and I have spent many evenings and weekends entertaining family and friends there. I have apple trees and collect fallen branches and twigs.....in my pond area I have 2 chiminea's and I burn the wood in them. It smells so wonderful when the apple wood is burning. It's especially nice in the fall when there's a chill and I burn the wood. Those chiminea's produce heat like a furnace!

I think it will be just super when its finished Liz.
I've always wanted a 'proper' pond in my garden but in my 'minature' garden
in front of my greenhouse I did manage to squeeze in a minature pond
Dancing Dancing Dancing
I had kept the baby's bath I had used for all my children (it wasnt a plastic one!!)and I just didnt want to throw it out so I dug a hole to fit the bath into then put stones and plants around it and a minature bridge beside it before filling it with water and the birds just love it too. I've had frogs using it too!! I did buy a solar fountain to put into it but within 3/4 minutes there was no water left in the bath -one thing now on my list --A BIGGER pond!!)
One of the things I like to do is to try to minaturise the trees etc I plant. I have a silver birch tree which is over 30 years old and its only just over 4 feet high.
