Bengy has had his first pill this morning and he seems to be OK so far so that's a good sign but I guess I'll still need to keep a close eye on him for the next few days. He's to go back for more blood tests etc in 10 days time and it's then we'll really know if the medication is having a positive effect. Fingers crossed. I thought I would have had a problem getting him to swallow the capsule but once it was wrapped in a nice chicken parcel it disappeared in one gulp!! Dancing Just had to make doubbly sure I was giving the piece of chicken with the surprise filling to the right dog (laughing)
Wish I could swallow my pills like that :-& d'oh!

Now tomorrow its my turn to get the checkover!! Pray that I dont need to get any more pills - Think Think just a thought maybe if I mixed and matched Bengy's pills with mine we'd both feel better Liar Think Whistle Angel Dancing

Funny how you ca get a dog to take medicine if it is wrapped up in a good piece of meat. Our old dog got his pills in a piece of cheap cheese.

My problem now I that those two little pooches are now expecting everytime they get food put down to them it should come with cooked chicken breast on the side. Tonight I put down their dishes minus the chicken to see what would happen, just wished I had had my camera ready., tails wagging when they saw their dishes coming but when I put the dishes in front of them they sniffed then plonked themselves down, ignored what was in the dish then looked up at me- guess it was their way of telling me I'd forgotten to add the most important part of their meal.
(Yes I did give in and gave them a little bit chicken)

Re Bengy's medication:- So far so good, at the moment Bengy doesnt seem to be having any bad side effects from the pills. At least none of the ones the vet mentioned.

The only differences I've noticed is on more than a few occasions he seems to want to sleep by himself and the two of them (Gizzy and Bengy)have always slept together and for some reason he wants to lie on the carpet beneath the table rather than in his basket also he wont stay on my knee for any length of time whereas before he would cuddle down and sleep on my knee and enjoy being petted.
Odd but maybe it will all come back to normal soon

I hope so too Rosie but he does seem to be getting a bit 'brighter'

I'm just praying that those pills will sort things out. It will be a week on Thursday I'll have to take him back for more blood tests then when these results come back maybe I'll relax a bit but meatime I'm watching Bengy's every move. As my mother would have said "you're watching him like a hawk!" Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Many Thanks for those links Rosie
I have read up quite a bit about it but that was an intersting part about the 'diet' and giving the dog 'raw'food(or cooked) and increase the protein i'm going to put that to my vet the next visit. I am actually giving the dogs the dried food the vet recommended but recently I have been giving them cooked chicken (somehow I find it difficult to give them raw food) but that;s something else I'm going to check the vet with.
There's also another interesting link within one of those links with a video attached re about 'fat burning food' -this one was for humans.
Thanks again Rosie for taking the time to look those up for me its very much appreciated.
Emmy
ps Bengy did have quie a number of those symptoms but some of them he's had for most of his life.

Rosie most of the information posted online use it to promote their products but as long as you take the relevant parts and double check them then sometimes you can find something of benefit that has been previously missed that's why I'm going to ask the vet about one or two of the points that was made on those links you posted. Could be that a change/addition in/to diet may make a big improvement.
