d'oh! I'm letting out secrets here!
The letter box on my front door is made of 'brass??' or a metal something like that. I must admit I've kinda neglected the poor thing over the years Anxious Anxious
But I have bought all sorts of cleaning materials/liquids etc to bring it back to its former shining glory -cost me a tiny fortune too but nothing worked. I was watching a prog. on TV tonight and lo and behold here was someone demonstrating how to clean a brass letter box.
What was she using---Worcestershire Sauce
YES I did have some in the cupboard so out I went with the sauce bottle and a couple of cloths and a non scratch scouring pad and WOW!! what a diffence it really works and if I just do this once or twice more my letter box will be like new again. Just wished I had thought to take a photograph of the before and after!

The other thing demonstrated was how to clean badly marked mirrors.
She used some bicarbonate soda and mixed it with some water and poured it into a bottle with a spray nozzle gave the bottle a good shake then sprayed the mirror the result was ubelievable. She said it works on windows too -- Only one complaint -Just a pity a 'wee' man doesnt come attached to the bottle to do the work. Very Happy Very Happy

Wow, this is wonderful Emmy!!! The light fixtures on each side of the front door are brass. My husband is always polishing them with a special brass cleaner. I'll be sure to tell him about this.

He's pretty good at cleaning those type of things.

These last few years since I went back to work has him complaining that he's "doing all the housework." Mind you now, this man never lifted a finger to do any housework that he deemed was "woman's work." Even though his male friends could cook some pretty delicious dishes and actually helped their wives do housework this was always beyond him.

He does not do the heavy cleaning such as washing floors and toilets. I guess I've got to be glad he does anything at all...........it took him 31 years to finally lend a hand. Eh?
