I did say I would tell you about the disaster I had.
Well here it is as promised.

Well we all make mistakes but dont always like to own up to them.
When I first started to use my electronic knitting machine I felt i was on a production line and loving every moment, especially trying out all the new fairisle patterns.
So I decided I'd knit a gent's cardigan to give as a present and as my daughter was going on holiday there, she was taking it with her to the friend. My daughter told me the gentleman had quite long arms so as my son had long arms too Shhh we decided that because they were approx the same height as the person getting the cardigan then my son's measurement should be fine.
Good problem solved, so I got busy with the knitting and when I had finished the back and the fronts and one of the sleeves I decided to have a rest but when I went back to knit the second sleeve I found I had mislaid the first one that I had already finished and not only that, the note I had with the measurements on it was nowhere to be seen, but I could still knit the sleeve it was the length that was the problem. So when my son came in problem solved just take the measurement again.
Within 30 minutes I had the second sleeve finished and there 'right under my nose' was the first sleeve etc. Now all that was left to do was to sew it up and it looked really good.
So even with all the mishaps I had managed to get it finished just in time -she was leaving the following evening.
The gift was all wrapped up ready to go in the case when my daughter came in and asked me to let her have a look at the finished article.
She thought it looked really nice and decided to try it on -- then laughter-
'Whatever have you done Mum just come and have a look.
d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!
Yes the sleeves were a bit longer than usual as required but unfortunately one of the sleeves was a good bit longer than the other.
Did I make a mistake in the knitting NO- I have two sons and I guess one of them has longer arms than the other Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
Yes I bet you have guessed it. first measurement was from son A and second measurement from son B.
Did I unravel the cardigan-NO it was far quicker of me to knit another one
and I remember I sat up most of that night to make sure it was finished in time. - no mistakes this time!!
ps I still have the first one I knitted---I'm just waiting until I can find a gentleman with one arm longer than the other d'oh!

Oh my goodness but you have the patience of a saint!!

Screwing it up the first time I'd have said to myself, "oh the hell with it" and just went out and bought one.

I guess patience really is a virtue and you certainly have it Emmy.

Don't know about having the 'patience of a saint' but I certainly dont like to give in if a problem pops up.

Perhaps its a female thing - 'patience' Big Glad

Saying we have here!
Patience is a virtue
Find it if you can
Seldom in a woman
But never in a man

No offence to you Gil I guess you have lots of patience--or should we ask your family ?? Think Think Think

Emmy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

They'd probably tell you that I have the old "Italian Temper", but have mellowed as I've gotten older.
