On my etagere' on the lowest shelf, there is a picture of my beloved Benny.

Last week my husband caught Trixie moving up close to it and staring at it.

Do you think she remembered Benny?????????

The other morning I heard a soft meow and the next thing I knew Trixie had crawled under the blanket right next to me. I really had to use the bathroom but just laid there another hour enjoying her next to me.

Rosie I'm reading a book at the moment about a cat who lives in a 'hospital/home' where some people are there because of dementia etc and other terminal problems. It seems this cat knows when someone is about to die and it goes and 'visits' the patient when they are about to die and when the actual time of death is near it jumps onto the patients bed and lies and purrs and it stays there until the patient has died.
The title of the book is
'Making the Rounds ith OSCAR'
by David Dosa

Worth getting from the library fascinating to read

makes you wonder if they do have a sixth sense that we have as human beings have lost.

Emmy, I have read about this cat, Oscar, right here on AOL (America on line).

The nurses and doctors would summon the dying patient's family because the cat had never been wrong.

I first read about that book in my newspaper but it was just an extract from the book that's why I got the book and I'm really enjoying reading it. Not that I enjoy reading about people dying but its amazing just what animals are capable of doing .
I've also got another book 'Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home - and other unexplained powers of animalsby Rupert Sheldrake.
Facinating reading and this book has explained a few things that has happened with my own dogs in the past. Worth reading.

I do believe that dogs have a sixth sense.
Sometimes I read about true stories which make think that they do have it.
Like the story of the old man who had to go at the hospital, so he gave his dog to another family, but the dog went away from there and went at the hospital because he missed his human fiend.
And another one, very sad, about an old person who died and after a couple of days, the relatives of this person found the dog at the cemetery, near his grave waiting for him. Sad

I believe this story (which is true) happened in Britain or Scotland and the name of the little fellow was Bobby. This sweet little dog laid on top of his owners grave site. I think there is even a statue of the little dog.

Its Greyfriars Bobby here's two links.
The statue is still there in Edinburgh I've seen it. There is a film about it too, slightly different from the actual true story but close enough to it. not sure if there is a DVD of the film but I can assure you,not because its a Scottish event , but its well worth watching but be sure to have some tissues at the ready.

I really believe they do!

When my husband had retired and I was still working he said he always knew when I was on my way home because the dog would always get up and go and sit at the door. I thought it was because the dog heard the car coming in the driveway but my l.husband assured me that the dog was sitting at the door long before I could have been near the house.
The odd thing was it wasnt as though I came home at the same time every night, sometimes I was early and sometimes I was late but it seemed the dog went and sat at the door always about 15/20 minutes before I arrived home - which meant he was going to the door just after I had left my work to come home. Seems unbelievable but 100 percent true. I must admit I thought at first my l.husband was making it up but it wasnt until later when I read the book I mentioned in the previous post that what my l.husband had noticed was in fact true. I only wished now he had kept a written record and photographic proof of this.
Our Jackie was a Jack Russell breed.
But Gizzy my chihuahua also seems to have similar traits. Sometimes I think ,this may sound stupid, but often I think he can read my mind --therefore I just thank God Gizzy cant speak although it would be nice if he could
