I think this is such a nice custom both in Italy and even more so in France.
When I was at my grandsons end of term school concert and I compared the difference with what happens here. It took ages for everyone to get seated because as each family arrived everyone hugged and kissed each other. even excusing themselves to move along a row to greet a friend. Yes I got a few smackers too BUT I also got kissed on the hand made me feel like a proper Lady on the other hand maybe it was because I looked ancient compared to all the young things there.
I tend to do that here too with my family and friends but sometimes I forget myself and once when I was out and was introduce to a gentleman I did the same thing and I only wished I could have captured to look on his face- I had some explaining to do afterwards

I usually do the cheek thing except for some family and the occasional Lady that surprises the life out of me as she lands a good old lip lock on me!

Honestly I don't like this custom very much, specially with relatives... I just kiss some old friends.

My family loves to kiss everyone. My mother's uncle Tony gave wet, slobbery kisses that were sickening. I'd try to avoid him. I hope he's not up there in heaven ......or down in hell trying to plant one of those sickening kisses on an old devil!

Take care what you say Rosie Anxious Anxious Anxious He may just be saving them up for you way way in the future. Angel Angel Angel

I have a special thing with my grandson in France (it works wonders especially if he's not been doing what he's told) We call it the 5 kisses remedy.
It's only ever done with me. We kiss each other first on the forehead then on the nose then on each cheek and finally a big smacker on the mouth. By the time its finished he's laughing and then he says sorry and does what he should have done in the first place.

Wonder if I should try that with the dogs??? Silenced Silenced
