Fried food odors
Next time you fry foods, try placing a small cup of bleach nearby. The bleach absorbs much of the "fried" odor. Be sure to clearly mark the cup and keep it out of the reach of children.

Good idea if you like the smell of bleach. I would rather smell the olive oil or the stuff being fried.

Gil..

Believe it or not..I love the smell of bleach but my family hates it with a passion. I found burning scented candles sometimes helps...

or even a cup of vinegar helps absorb smells. Has anyone tried this?

Yes, I knew of vinegar. It's helpful also to absorb smells of the refrigerator if there are some smelly foods inside it (like cheese, fish, etc.)

The smell of bleach nauseates me especially when I'm eating.

I have solved that problem the easy way! Never eat fried foods, if I can't bake it, don't even look at the yummy recipes.

Oh! yes! All the yummy go straight to my hips and to my hubby arteries!
With a few changes we can avoid frying almost everything, or go sushi

But with all sins...

Oh how true this is! I found grilling and BBQ'ing a great solution but every so often I have to fry something...so I limited what I fry (everything in moderation), and I try and walk a mile at least 3 to 5 times a week). There are other things I could do to help keep healthy but I am just not that disciplined!

You are so right Simy! Every time I fry something in this condo, for weeks everything smells of oil. Even the clothes in the closet!

It's made me stop frying!

With fragrant bleaches on the market you don't have to put up with the smell of old bleach. Many have a very pleasant smell and really do absorb the frying odors without being overpowering. The cost is not much different than the regular bleach.

When I wash up after dinner I always put some bleach (fragrant) in the wash water to disinfect the counters, etc.

Ok..today I did something different..I used vinegar instead of bleach. Its more environmentally friendly, right? Of course, I have had the feeling that something has been missing all day... Anxious
