Whistle Hi, folks. I'm Nick. I found out about this board from goganga and wanted to join. I'm so glad there are old friends here -- YOU are sorely missed elsewhere!!!

Anyway, to introduce myself to those who don't know me, I'm a divorced father of two daughters (Adriana 29 and Margaret 17). I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I am an infrastructure project manager (IT) with a major consulting firm. My client is the USA's largest retailer of consumer electronics and that has in recent years gone international (I wish, I wish, I wish they'd open stores in Italy!!).

In a past life (when I was still married), I lived in New York City, where I pursued a career as an operatic baritone. I did manage to sing 26 major roles, and once placed 2nd in the Tito Schipa International Vocal Competition in Lecce (Puglia). Unfortunately, I never got to sing at the Met.

I no longer sing professionally (or in many other ways, for that matter); I consider myself a "pew" singer. I have a couple of hobbies that keep me busy: I have been studying Italian (less so than before a trip to Italy last fall). I am combining a love of video editing, genealogy, and learning Italian in a large video I'm creating to introduce my Italian cousins to my American cousins, and vice versa. I'm hoping to include genealogical information. This also leads me to have to build my own computer systems, since video editing software is hoggy.

I love classical music, but am very fond of some of the great rock bands of the 60's such as the Beatles, Stones, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, and The Band. I also love jazz but am not very knowledgeable about it. I read quite a bit, though not as much as formerly. My interestes are politics, current events, history, culture, and literature.

Nice to see you again NIck and to have you over here with us on "Amici".

Thank you for saying that some 'over here' are sorely missed elsewhere, but we wanted a trouble free site and that's what we've achieved here....no petty feuds, no 'continuously hidden PM's to 'slag' people off etc. etc.

I think you will like being here on "Amici" because 'what you see is what you get'!

Oh BTW - I really must chastise you Shhh ....in your list of groups that you like

- you missed out QUEEN you naughty lad!!! super LOL

Hi Carole,

I hate those feuds, too! Shame on you

As for Queen, I do like them but never "got into them," as we used to say.

How's the weather in northern Italy? We're back to winter in Minnesota after one tantalizing day in the mid 80's nearly two weeks ago.

Well at the moment on my 'sun filled' terrace it is 21C (70F)....there is still some snow above the 1400m level, but not down here at 400m.

Yesterday it rained quite lot, but it's all good for the new foliage and the fruit blossoms...just as long as we don't get a late frost.

But up in the 'Engadina' with Lori on Sunday on the road to San Moritz (didn't quite het there though) we came to Lake Silvaplana and as you can see it is still frozen over and in the distance you can just see two skiers crossing it!!!

And this one is just down the road from the lake (which is quite small really) and shows the heavily frost laden firs on the slopes....

Welcome Nick. Very Happy

This is a great site and very relaxing so I'm sure you'll like it here. Like Minnesota, Toronto got hit with some some last night and today and the winds are strong...not the way I would like to spend the holidays. I remember as a child it was usually warmer by now...

Kim, thanks so much for the welcome. I was so glad to find out from goganga that you had all created a home here on Amici Over The Ocean and that I could come and play too. Boo hoo!

I'm feeling the love! Dancing

Hi Terry! I've been doing great, thanks. Working a lot and wishing I were a couple of years older so I could retire but ok. How about you? You keeping these great gals company? Applause
