Hi All,

I am new to this website - have spent some time today reading the various posts and have to say for such a small community your interests are very diverse.

As I am a foodie I especially appreciated the recipes shared here (the tomato stuffed with pineapple and walnuts is on my list to try).

Hopefully I will get to know all of you soon enough!

Cheers (or, more appropriately - A Presto)

Robert

Thank you for the welcome Goganga.

I promise I will try to use more Italian as well, though it might be a few more weeks before my vocabulary is up to it (am taking lessons still).

That's great Rob! Try to use more Italian, reading and writing in a foreign language every day is very useful to learn it better. And try to think in Italian too: it helps a lot! I sometimes try to think in English, even though I often don't understand what I'm thinking to... Eh? d'oh!

Hi Goganga, after my Italian lesson last night my tutor noted that I need to be careful what Italian I am learning - I understand far more in Abruzzesi dialect than I do in proper Italian.

When I was in Rome I could barely follow anything, yet when in Abruzzo I am fine...

So we are to start next week learning the correct form of Italian so that I can communicate with more people than just the good folk living in the mountain villages of Abruzzo.

Once I have figured out what to say where I will start practising here too.

Your tutor is right, dialects are different from proper Italian. We don't understand other dialects except our regional one. So if you talk more Abruzzese than Italian, it could be hard to understand what you are saying. d'oh!

Benvenuto Rob, e grazie per l'aiuto sulla questione di 'una certa persona' qui sul "Amici".

I hope you will continue to post here with us, and perhaps share some good Irish recipes for us to try.
