I've found this recipe, it sounds good.... Dancing

Ingredients to make about 30 cakes:

- 1 kg (2.20 pounds) flour sifted

- 1/2 lt. olive oil

- 125 gr (4.40 ounce) sugar

- 12,5 cl white wine

- 12,5 cl orange juice

- 4 tbsp brandy

- 1/2 tsp ground cloves

- 1/2 tsp grated nutmeg

- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

- salt

- chopped almonds

Syrup:
- 600 gr honey

- 250 gr sugar

- 1/4 litre cold water

- 1 lemon, juice strained

Work the flour with all the listed ingredients (1 teaspoonful).
Knead the dough well for about 15 minutes.
Form little balls the size and shape of an egg; flatten balls lightly on an oiled baking sheet.
Bake them in a preheated 200 C for about 15 minutes until they are brown.
Dissolve honey, sugar and lemon juice, then boil until the syrup is frothy.
When the cakes are cooked, take them from the oven and while they are still warm, lower each one into the hot syrup for 2/3 minutes.
Place them on greaseproof paper to cool.
Sprinkle them with chopped almonds and the remaining cinnamon.

Hey Simy - These sound delicious!

Now if only I was allowed to eat them Big Sad
Perhaps I could make them at the end of the month when my friend Pat is coming back - this time with husband Joe....That way I could have one or two, Shhh and between them they could, I'm sure finish off the rest! frizzy

I think you can eat one or two of them... Wink
If you will make them, let me know how they sound (I believe they're delicious too!)

Is this an Italian recipe Simy?? You know what intrigues me about it??? It calls for olive oil as opposed to vegetable oil which American cake or dessert recipes always list as an ingredient.

I don't know if it's an Italian recipe.... Eh? Think
We often use olive oil here for cakes and dessert recipes too.

That is so interesting Simy because olive oil is never used in cakes and other dessert recipes here. Think

I'm frightened to make these they look so good! I might eat the whole lot myself. I'm thinking of excuses to make them. Hmm - Halloween. I can coat them in icing sugar, give them angelica ears, and call them white mice........... Think

Thanks Simy Dancing

I'm going to enjoy these
