I am a mutt, I have to admit it. My family has been in the U.S for a long time, so I'm a mix of a bunch of different nationalities and cultures. Over time eyerybody did it with everybody...lol. I speak American.... That's it. It works for me. As a writer and an artist, I love learning about other cultures and beliefs and like incorporating what I like about each, into my own.

Thanks for the welcome, Rosie, Goganga and Carole B. I'm not sure I'm sane. Can you tell me how I would know?

Couldn't read the Italian reply, Carole B. Guess I wasn't supposed to. Oh well, life in general is like that, isn't it? Somethings we understand and somethings we don't. Glad to join you all.

Now I gotta go see how to add my photo.

luv and stuff,
Vi

But...but...the English translation is right underneath the Italian - so everyone can see what I said! Rolling Eyes

And as for 'How to find out if you're going mad'? Well the first sign is when you start answering your own questions. This is rapidly followed by doing this >marameo
When you've passed THAT point then you end up here>frizzy

Well - you did ask!

BTW - Love the photo - you don't look any 'madder' than the rest of us here! Hahaha

Carole B.

I wondered if that was the translation beneath what you said, but I had no way to know for sure. Thanks for the explanation.

Glad you like the photo... I figured it would be the same size as everyone else's - I made sure it was no bigger than 80 pixels as per the instructions - then it came out really small. Did everyone else cheat, size wise?

Okay, well then I guess I'm in good company relative to madness.

Hey Chela (as a name what does that mean?)

Are you ptting your Emoticons in an 'image' URL box?

I see that the [img] tags are showing here and on another of your posts... Unless it's a special smiley of your own, there's no need to do that.

I also put your two very long URL's on your first post in an 'URL text box' so it only took up the length of that and not the full URL.

Hi VI!

anyways, it's nice to see another Oregonian on the board, even if I am a bit transplanted at the moment!

Edited to say: whoops! I just realized that you actually joined before me embarrassed

Hi Lori - or should I say, fellow beaver. Thanks for the welcome - and I welcome you as well. I attended OSU for the last year and a half of my degree program. My life was a mess at the time, so I kept switching around. I also attended Mt. Hood Community College, Portland State University.

What year did you graduate? For me it was 1978. You look considerably younger - so I have a question. When you were there, was it still quite sexist? Science schools often are. It was much more traditional than the other two places I attended. I graduated at age 29, so I was older than most students.

Thanks for the kind words about my art. I appreciate it.

I've always lived in Oregon. Never really had a desire to move out of the state. I grew up in Coos Bay. I lived in the Portland area off and on for 20 years.

For some reason when I click on the www under your post, it doesn't link me to your site. I'll have to go in the other way.

Hey,

yeah, I'm a bit younger, I just graduated from OSU in 2005. Corvallis is a great town for growing up or having a family in, but for at this point in my life there isnt much it's just not the right place for me. While I do love Oregon, my desire for travel and new things is just too strong - I had to get back to Italy. Of course I'd rather be in Oregon than Virginia, atleast there I have a lot more friends spread around.

I didnt find OSU to be too sexist, of course I was in the graphic design program, a bit different than the sciences. but my friends that were in the science department never made any comments about it. And I worked in the engineering dept my last year doing in house design, and didnt notice anything. Probably a lot has changed over the years. Oregon, especially Ctown can be a bit closed minded at times, there really isnt that much diversity there.

I lived in N. Portland (Kenton area) till I was 7, then moved to corvallis. I dont remember much of Portland though from my childhood, and it wasnt until college that I started going back up there to hang out some. My whole family is still in oregon though, other than my brother and me who are out here. I'm definitely looking forward to my trip out there though, it'll will be nice to have mountains again :D The landscape out here is just so much different.

I'm not sure why the URL wasnt working, perhaps just a glitch. Seems to be working fine now, atleast for me Smile

Lori

Lori, believe it or not I lived in north Portland a half a block off of Kenton Park. I lived there for 5 years when I was married the first time. I used to bicycle all over the area - in my bikini. Once upon a time I was into that.

Glad there's been progress on the sexism front at OSU. My most unusual experience in Corvallis was not in school. I driving down the street on a hot summer day. The windows of my little Toyota were open. I was wearing shorts and a tee shirt. A bee flew in through the window. It flew down to my crotch and up the leg of my shorts. I was very alarmed. I dared not move that part of my body. There was no place to pull over. I finally spotted a little store with a parking lot. I pulled into the parking lot and stopped. I opened the door to the car and eased myself out of the car, like I was still sitting. I shook out the leg of my shorts. I don't know where that bee went, but it wasn't there. Gees.

hmm im not quite sure where kenton park is. I was a bit too young when i lived there to relaly know the area. I was on greenwhich street just half a block up from Kenton elementary. One time about 5 years ago or so I was at some relatives house that i didnt even remember, and as I was driving back to I5 afterwards realized that I was in my old neighborhood. Drove by the old house and actually talked to the guy who was living there. He had fixed the place quite a bit restoring it, and gave me a tour of it. What was cool was that I was actually able to tell him about a "secret" unfinished room upstairs that he hadnt known about. when I was living there the door to the room was still exposed, but I was never allowed in. whoever had the house after us and before this guy had sealed off the door so you couldnt tell it was there. I was surprised that the guy hadnt noticed that there was a big corner upstairs and a couple of windows on the outside unaccounted for. Of course when I was little I thought the room was haunted, or rather the whole house, as on several occasions me and my brother both saw ghosts - one of which times was when I saw a person in the window to that room. Shocked
