Anyone else want to express their love of Firenze??

Any particular piazza you love, ristorante, gelatoria???

My fav piazza is Piazza Signoria. My Friends own the ristorante called Lorenzaccio, as well as Michael Collins pub. Very friendly family runned establishment. I love those guys! I love sitting in the late afternoon in Lorenzaccio cafe having a glass of wine watching people walk by. i love to people watch. Anyone else???

It's one of my favorite things to do in the early evening before dinner.

I adore the Piazza della Signora but I have to say I am partial to the San Lorenzo district.

There is such a colorful mix of people in the Piazza Mercato Centrale. The people watching is better than TV most nights.

I probably have dinner a couple of nights per week at Osteria Flexo - not necessarily the best food but I've been there enough times that I am no longer even offered a menu. I am usually just brought whatever is the freshest. Quite often a group of us will end up there just sharing a bottle of vino, then someone else wanders up and we get another bottle. After about the 5th or 6th bottle we usually just decide to stay for dinner.

I also try to have lunch about once per week nearby at Mario's. THAT is real homecooked Italian cuisine.

There is also another restaurant I love. Fratelli Brigante on Piazza Giorgini north of the center.

I don't really do a lot of "hanging out" so much anymore. I find quite often I am either at someone else's apartment or they are at mine for dinner.

I'm a sucker for the San Frediano neighborhood... there is a fabulous trattoria around there called Al Tranvai. I highly recommend it.

As for a good gelatteria, I've always enjoyed Vivoli...the owner recently died, unfortunately, but it's still open.

Also, near Florence, I really liked visiting Castello del Trebbio, which is obviously a castle, and it's actually more in Santa Brigida... there's a cute guy who lives there, his cousins own it... they make olive oil and wine. yummy! It was first owned by the Pazzi family and it's where they conspired to murder the Medici brothers (obviously that didn't work out too well...)

My friend Simone raved about a ristorante in the San Frediano area. I can't remember the name of it but he wanted to take me to it so bad. Alas the time ran out for him to take this past time. This next time I can make up all the times he paid for my dinner, I will pay this time.

Has anyone heard of the Bobolino area just beyond Porta Romana??? I loved taking walks up there and running up the stairs during my evening jogs. It is a great area to read and relax at the end of the day. NO tourists are ever up this way. It is too far from all the typical italian cafes and ristorante.

I am trying to post pictures on here but I am unable to do that. I am dragging them from my desktop, pictures of Bobolino. Simy can you help me AGAIN....thanks Whistle

Yes!
FIRST OPTION:
First, you have to resize pictures, because they don't have to be too large. If you have windows XP, use the program called "Paint".
Second, use this website to host them

(broswe your pc using "sfoglia" button, choice your pic and click "host it!" button). Wait few seconds and then you'll see a page with some links: copy the last one (Direct link to image), click on [img] button in your post, paste the link and click again the [img] button. Then take a look at your post to check if you can see the image.

SECOND OPTION:
Send me your pictures by emails and I'll post them for you! Wink

Ciao!

I have another option.

I just start using photobucket about a week ago to host my pictures and they do the resizing automatically for you during the loading process....as a way to save space for themselves... but the way I look at it, it is a win win thing.... Yes, they are also free.
