Doing the news rounds and found a bit of gos!

Gibson on drink-drive charge
From: Agence France-Presse
From correspondents in Los Angeles

July 29, 2006

ACTOR Mel Gibson has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving overnight in Malibu, California.
The Lethal Weapon star's bail was set at $US5,000 ($6,570), according to police.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed the actor's arrest on Pacific Coast Highway at 2.30am local time.

Gibson failed a breathalyser test and was booked in the Lost Hills Sheriff's station.

Not a good look, Drink Driving!
Cheers

I wonder how mamy milligrammes he was over the limit? People who are even 1 mg over the limit and have decided that it's OK to get into and drive a 'lethal weapon - aka a car - deserve ALL they get!

I've no sympathy for anyone who 'drinks and drives'. Only for the poor s*d they KILL or maim!

Here if someone drives and is drunk, he gets his driving license suspended for some weeks and he has to be sued (it happened to a fool friend of mine).
I hate who drinks and drives. It's nonsense drinking a lot. bad air

I don't agree with anyone drinking and driving but again, just because he's a celebrity it makes news.

If one of us got behind the wheel that way it wouldn't make news unless we killed or maimed someone.

He was wrong to be behind the wheel that way and could've easily called one of his chauffeurs (which I'm sure he has) to come and get him.

I'm afraid this really is another case of the media desperate for some news and paparazzi all too willing to supply it.

We have plenty of drunken sods who get away with this sort of bad behavior in my own hometown. When these idiots finally kill someone then everyone is all over the situation.

I'd like to bring back the subject of Mel Gibson's arrest because I see he made anti-semitic remarks to the officer who detained him. I have also read that Mel Gibson's father is one of those idiots who denies the Holocaust ever happened.

This man should be ashamed of himself. I would like him to know I did NOT like his gory, over done movie, The Passion of The Christ. My family and I were sickened by the gratuitous use of gore in this movie. It also made me doubtful of how certain things happened according to the Bible.

I didn't know he made anti-semetic remarks Rose. I knew his father was nutty that way--but I suppose the apple doens't fall far, huh? I'd read on and off for years that Mel Gibson had an on and off alcohol problem I don't have not one shred of sympathy either. God forbid he cripples or kills some one else.
We couldn't get through The Passion Of Christ--thought it was uneccessarily brutal and sadistic. And I'm sorry--we were not enjoying the subtitles this time.

I hope Mel Gibson keeps his hands out of producing or directing any more religious movies. He really stinks at it!!!! He comes across as a religious zealot but in a phony way.

I agree Rose. To me, it was a big mess of a movie--we turned it off after 30 minutes. I never understood all of the fuss about it.
He is very much a hypocrite. Won't use birth controll because of his beliefs--ok I can repect that--but has been known to be a bit of a womanizer and drinker. Now he can add antisemitist to his list.

He IS a hypocrite! He can afford the eight kids he's got.

I heard about the womanizing too but I suppose his wife who lives very comfortably on his wealth would just as soon look the other way as many wives of millionaires do.

Anyone who claims to adhere to any form of religion, and then disregards the safety of the rest of God's children by driving around drunk is a total hypocrite. I think anyone who drinks and drives should be locked up and the key thrown away!!!!!

I so agree Marisa!!
Just watching "The View" and Barbara Walters just said she 's not going to see any more of his movies due to his anti-semetic views. Good idea.

I read that his latest is in the Mayan language with English subtitles. That sounds like fun - not. I didn't see the 'Passion' - it sounded too much like hard work. I want to be entertained when I go to the movies, not educated or lectured. It sounds like he is doing what so many 'celebs' do after a few years - they start to take themselves too seriously and become a**holes!

That is so true Marisa!

Cindy Crawford claims she couldn't adjust to Richard Gere's new found faith with the Tibetan monk the Dalai Lama. I think he gave some sort of political speech at the Oscars one year. Many of the celebrities are into that like they're some kind of authority on the subjects they spew on about.

Subtitles are a distraction. While I'm reading them below the action going on above it I'm missing out on the picture itself. You have to picture this with a really large screen TV. It's annoying.

Arrgh - there is nothing worse than listening to half-baked political or religious rhetoric coming from the mouths of celebs. Where is their expertise on these matters? You know it will only be a matter of a few months or years until their short attention spans take them onto the next obsession on which they will pronounce with the assuredness that comes from very little knowledge of a subject. It is something you see a lot with teenagers, and is forgivable in that age group because of their youth - 'I know everythingitis'. Lets face it, with a few notable exceptions, most celebs really aren't that bright. Maybe I am just getting old and less tolerant - but I actually find myself shouting back at the television when I hear them banging on about the rainforests or foreign policy etc these days. My son did kindly try to explain that they really couldn't hear me.... d'oh!

Marisa Very Happy
