Hello dear Emmy!!!!

I live in Ohio so I'm not near this area being affected. At night we have had a lot of heavy rain and wind when is the normal residual effect of the hurricane.

I've been busy going to stock car races 3 or 4 nights a week the past few weeks. Right now we are getting some rain and a bit of wind from Hurricane Irene. I just hope the brunt of it goes out to sea!

Rosie, It is good to see you back.

Glad to hear that you have been enjoying yourself Gil. I really do hope that you wont get involved with 'Irene' (not trying to be funny here ,although it sounds like it!) I mean the hurricane. It seems to be causing tremdous damage. Debra, who posted here, IS in Irene's path and they expceted to get the worst of it at Midnight -3am cant remember the time difference right now but it was either last night or tonight and it would last for a long time (could last up to 22 hours according to the news here)she did say she would try to keep in touch if she could. I just hope and pray they will be oK.

Hi Rosie! I'm glad to see you back! Nice video!!!!

I've just watched the news about Irene, I really hope it does not make damage and that people on that area are safe.

Sorry to hear that Gil. Did you have much damage in your area?
That must have been a nightmare experience for you all.

5 days!!!!! and here is me complaining when the power gets switched off for two hours!! If that happened here I guess I'd have to go and stay with the family because this house is all electric powered - except for the hot water/heating which is run by mains gas.
I wouldnt be even able to make a cup of coffee or cook a meal Anxious
Often during the winter when we are more likely to have power cuts I fill a flask with boiling water in the morning just in case!

We have an ancient gas stove powered by bottled (propane) gas. It is the same stove that my parents bought when they bought their first house in 1952.

Well that old saying IS true! Keep a thing for 7 years and you will find a use for it!! Bet you were glad of that.
My BIG problem is I believe everything I have will eventually become useful so its going o be a BIG problem for my family some day, not for a long time yet --Ihope!! Very Happy

After we lost my mom Anne & I bought the house. My parents brought the stove with them from their first house when they bought this place in 1956 and it has been in use since it was bought.

I just loved reading what have just posted Gil, Doesnt it prove something to you? Years ago when you bought something good it did last for years not like now! After about 2 years when it breaks down what do you get told? Sorry spare parts are no longer available and in any case you would save money by buying new!!
I bet your Mum would be pleased that you're still using that stove and that it came in very useful.
Emmy Applause Very Happy

Thanks! I'm sure that she is. Looking back I should have listened to our son and have one of the antique restorers bring the stove back to new condition shortly after we bought it!
