Just cant remember if I told you all I have some new 'pets'.
They are in my small pond Dancing and have just hatched out.
Yes I have a whole batch of tiny tadpoles hopefully they wont start eating each other (I've been told they do this d'oh! )
but I do have a lovely big frog sitting at the side of the pond taking good care of them so fingers crossed in a short while I'll have frogs hopping all over the place - Think Think just need to take extra care when getting the grass cut Think

I can't remember the last time I saw a tadpole! We can hear frogs croaking up a storm these days and I guess if I looked in the swamp where they live I could see some tadpoles.

Yes tadpoles Simy, and they are growing too I thought at first they had all died but they had only been hiding in amongst the water weeds.
my friend who is just back from holiday is about as silly as me and she has brought me back 2 small artificial water lilies for my small pond which already has 2 small ducks floating about and they look good and the ducks are ones that dont need feeding either\:D/ - great fun for the children (me too Dancing ) If I ever can manage to get a photograph taken of the tadpoles I'll post it.

I have taken a short video of the tadpoles swimming about but I'm not sure if I can post it on the forum?
My neighbour was telling me today a friend of his has some fish in his pond and tadpoles have arrived in the pond too and it seems the tadpoles are attaching themselves to the fish and he has to catch the fish to remove the tadpoles. I've never heard of this before.

I've never heard of tadpoles attaching themselves to fish. I have heard of fish eating tadpoles! I wonder if they are really tadpoles or leeches (bloodsuckers)?

d'oh! Good question... I think you have to upload the video on some websites like youtube or photobucket and then post the link here..

Once agian the video of the tadpoles is too long and I cant email it or post it. They still havent lost their tails and there's still no sign of any legs forming. I thought they would have been out of the water by now.
(Guess if it takes all this time for them to develop it wouldnt be profitable to start a buisness selling frog legs to restaurants Big Laugh)

As if I would even think about that!!!

Update on the tadpoles: They're still not out of the water yet and no sign of any legs appearing but they are coming up to the surface and it looks like they are blowing bubbles but I have been told this is them taking in air - told it was something to do with their lungs developing.
I never expected them to be in the water for as long as this but once again I was told a lot has to do with the weather re the rate they develop.
It really is interesting and the grandchildren are having a great time trying to count how many are in the pond. One thing for sure that's one thing they wont get a correct answer to.

I really haven't done much with them since I was a kid. For some reason my kids didn't have them around, must have been Anne! From what I do remember it seems like your guys are taking a long time to get legs.
