Guess what now!!
Bengy thinks its his turn now!
I had to take him back to the vet on Tuesday because he wasnt drinking. He was given a thorough examination and I knew the vet wasnt very happy after he had sounded Bengy's throat and chest Bengy had been making noises when he was breathing but he's done that most of his life but it seems it's getting worse. So Vet prescribed penicillin pills 1and1/2 twice daily- same as Gizzy but different strength of pills - Now my head's buzzing at pill time.!!
I had to try to get Bengy to take some milk with bits of cooked chicken breast in it., to keep up his fluid levels. This seemed to work up until this morning when he wouldnt even get out of his bed to come and get a bit of chicken - now how was I going to give him his medication? So I locked Gizzy up in his cage got hold of Bengy and more or less forced the bit chicken with the pills into Bengy's mouth. He yelped and struggled but eventually swallowed it but after that he wouldnt take a drink not even milk.
So I phoned the vet and asked his advice and if I would wait until the beginning of the week to see if there was any difference but he said because of the medication Bengy was on I would have to take him to be examined this afternoon. Now I've to stop the vetyrol pills until Wednesday to see if it makes any difference then I've to takle Bengy back to the vet on Wednesday morning and he'll get a blood sample taken and he will get some exrays taken.
Oh dont forget I've to take Gizzy back on Tuesday morning to get his ear checked out again.
Dont you think it would be a good idea if I just moved into the vet's premises at least I'd save some money on petrol!!(take note I didnt say move in with the vet,he's almost ages with my son and happily married Big Grin)

Sorry to hear that your poor pets are not feeling well. I remember a dog that we used to have always eating whatever we used to camouflage his pills and dropping the pills on the floor.

Gil If I try anything other than cooked chicken- getting Gizzy to swallow the pills - he would do that too. If it wasnt so frustrating it would be funny!

But even with the cooked chicken the past two days I've had big trouble trying to get Bengy to take the penicillin pills and they're much smaller than the other ones I was told to stop- in fact in the morning he wont even take the cooked chicken on its own and wont take a drink either. Today it was almost noon before I managed to get him to take his pills and believe me I actually forced them into his mouth but after that he did take a bit milk with chicken in it. There's definately something not right with him just praying it can be fixed. But it may take a few days for the vetyrol medication to work out from his system - but it may not be even that that's the problem.
Guess I'll just have to wait until Wednesday to find out what the exray shows up.
One thing I can tell you for sure I'm really very worried about Bengy.

You must be right about something being wrong as it is unusual for any pet not to eat. Good luck.

Oh no! Confused I'm sorry to hear that Bengy is sick. I agree with Gil, it is unusual for any pet not to eat or not to drink. I really hope he is better soon.
Please, keep us posted.

Bengy update:
I did take him to the vet at 9.45am last Wednesday and he had some more blood samples taken Vet didnt do any x-rays. He checked to make sure Bengy's kidneys were working OK. I had to leave him there until about 4pm.
When I went to collect him the vet said Bengy's kidneys etc were OK and he thought it was pain that was stopping Bengy from eating/drinking etc I had told the vet that when I tried to feed Bengy he would let out a loud yelp as though something was hurting him in the area around his neck. This wasnt happening when the vet was examining him and it wasnt until the vet was almost finished the examination that he went back to check the neck and Bengy did let out a loud yelp- In one way I was glad he did that. Vet now reckons that Bengy's main problem is pain - said just like an old person having athritis- so he's put him back on the pain relief medication again, and told me to lift the dish up so Bengy doesnt have to lower his head too much. (Exercise for me!! because even if I put his dish higher up he'll only take what's in it if I'm holding it!!)
He's back on the other medication as well now because the lab results for the 'cushing syndrome' came back OK as well. BUT the vet told me he had a bit bother getting the blood sample and that on the first try Bengy had managed to get the needle out from his leg before the vet could get the sample taken and he had difficulty the second time too as a result when Bengy's walking you can see my poor wee pooch's left leg is hurting him - must still be tender. I still have to lift him when he wants to go out -cant go down the two steps yet.
I'm relieved in a way because I was thinking the worst. Vet has told me if I'm worried or notice any changes at all not to hesitate to phone him he said he didnt want me worrying.

Yes Gil I think how I'm feeling right now I agree with you- and I'll add 'sorry for my Visa card too' Very Happy
Today I had to go back to the vet to get more pills for Bengy and as the bill hadnt arrived from the laboratory when I paid the last bill. It certainly was waiting for me there today and what with that and almost 40 for his pills which he needs each month the same for the other medication - without seeming rude I think Bengy should take a thought to himself and start producing some 1 coins in every pooh he does.
Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
BUT he's worth every penny spent on him only I still have this feeling the vet is missing something and I think it has something to do with the operation he had when he broke his leg when he was a puppy when they had to put a pin in his leg and the orthopedic vet at that time told me later on sometimes these pins can become dislodged and could cause pain. I've told my vet this but he said its not that. but maybe his leg is still sore after the vet trying to get the blood sample.

My s-i-l said not to worry about the bills (I'm not - I just like to complain!!), if things got too bad she said she would provide me with a sandwich and a cup of coffee so I wouldnt need to worry about starvation!! Big Laugh Big Laugh Big Laugh

What a never ending story. It kind of sounds like me and my newest doctor, kidney specialist, having me get all kinds of blood tests and today a CAT scan of my head and chest. At least I have insurance.
