Just think about me tomorrow afternoon please.
I've got an elderly lady coming in the afternoon to show me how to use my punchcard chunky knitting machine. Problem is right now I think my brain is on the go slow so I guess I'd better have a notebook and pencil at the ready.
To be honest right now isnt the best time for me because I've still not got things sorted out since the painter has finished. I've been so busy doing other things, the house has been on standbye- The garden is coming along nicely but inside the house -well least said the better Anxious Anxious
But maybe that's what I need a complete change but I know what the end result will be--lots more tidying up to do!!

Well! well! well! this is what happens when two oldies get together.
My friend brought me loads of punchcard patterns and as I've never used a punchcard machine before I was busy trying to match up the cards with the patterns in the instruction booklet- patterns looked similar but the numbers were different Think d'oh! d'oh!
Time for tea and a chat - we then discovered we had both forgotten how to programme our electronic machines - so the instruction booklets will need to be looked out for that again too.
By the time we had talked about all the things we had forgotten there was no time left to have a go on the chunky machine
Guess we must have forgotten that is what we were meant to do today.
Old age??? Nahh!!! we both have long tongues that go ten to the dozen and dont realise that time passes quickly Dancing Dancing Dancing
Next time Silenced Silenced Silenced Silenced Silenced

Glad to hear that you and your friend had a good get together. I'll have to Google "punch card knitting machine" to see what one looks like.

I Googled it and it is basically what I thought, a machine that knits a pattern that is from a punched card. I guess it is similar to the early computers where you had to punch holes into a cardboard cards in order to get data into the computer.

Got it in one Gil.
But you do get pre-punched cards ready for use but I have bought a special punch for making up my own patterns for the chunky machine.

Everyone says its much simpler to use than the electronic one I have but to be honest I'd have to sit with the instruction book beside me before using either of the machines right now and its sooo annoying because I was able to just sit down and in a couple of hours I could have knitted a babies shawl without sitting wondering which buttons to press or which tension to use. Its so quick that if I happend to drop a stitch it was easier and quicker to take the knitting off the machine unravel the wool and start again rather than try to fix the dropped stitch.
I also have a PPD machine that lets me make up patterns of my own (this works with a tv screen)once the pattern is complete I can transfer it to a catridge which then fits into my electronic machine then 'Bob's your Uncle' as they say here. Problem Think Think Think I'd need the instruction book with me for that too now.
Just what has happened to all my wee grey cells? - I'd really like to know
Think Probably all those pills are gobbling them up Anxious Anxious
