If you were still teaching you would probably get in trouble in one of your students or a parent saw that post. One of the school systems around here (West Hartford, Connecticut) wants to censor what teachers and other school employees post on the web!

Wow 'Big brother' is definatley taking over now! Monitoring what goes on the web?
When we went out entertaining the senior citizens at that time we were both teaching and everyone in the school knew about it. We were even asked to performin a concert where the Archbishop was in the front row and he was clapping too when we finished. He told us afterwards that he had really enjoyed the show and when we were announced they did say we were teachers and named the school as well. Angel Angel
Many of the parents were at that concert too. From what you're saying Gil I guess if we start up again we had better stay put in UK Think Think

I'm sure that 'Big Brother' is also alive and well in the UK. One thing that is stuck in my mind is that some poor guy got a fine for putting his trash out before going to bed at night. It seemed that the law prohibits people from putting their trash up the night before. Who wants to interrupt a sound sleep just to get up real early in the morning to put out the trash. Also, I've read about the cameras that are being installed all over.

OOOOHHH!! I always put my bins out the night before in case I forget in the morning and all my neighbours do too.
Only once they didnt empty my waste paper bin they put a note on it saying it couldnt be emptied because there was an empty potato crisp bag in it -- and that wasnt allowed the worst bit about that was it wasnt me who put it there it must have been someone passing by who had just opened the lid and popped the empty crisp bag in instead of dropping it on the road.
Think Common sense needs to be returned to its proper place.

I agree with you there Gil.
When I think about all the rules and regulations that are in school now its coming to the point where more time is taken up with the staff learning the rules about what they can't do than the time they have left for them to prepare lessons.
But one that really got to me- which I must admit I didnt keep- was if a child in the nursery was crying - they always got a hug from me or I sat down and put the the child on my knee to find out what the problem was -and that always worked - now if I was still teaching I'd probably be taken up for child abuse for doing that. Doenst bear thinking about what the powers that be will think up next.
Perhaps its just as well I retired when I did Think Think Very Happy Very Happy

Isn't it sad when a teacher tries to calm a kid down with a few hugs and then gets accused of child abuse. The lack of love in this World is beyond belief.
