Right Guys!!
Fingers crossed you'll all agree to be my new 'Slimming Class'
I'm aiming to lose at least 2lbs every week from now on. So I'm hoping you will help me. Pray
I'm going to take photographs of me ie the before and the after!
and I promise I will post them when I reach my target weight.
Now if I dont lose at leat 2lbs in a week then I give you permission to give me a real good ticking off! and I will have to tell you what I did wrong.
The class I did go to has changed its venue so its not convenient for me to go anymore and from past experience I just cant do this on my own without help.
So any takers out there willing to join in with me? Any ideas will be very welcome.
Emmy

Good luck! Don't count me in as I seem to have gained a pound or two recently.

Good luck Emmy!
Like Gil, I've gained some weight recently. The fun thing is that some months ago a friend of mine told me: we both need lose some weight, we have to walk more and eat less. So we started to walk every day. The point is that during the walk we go to buy the ice cream and all Friday evenings we go at the restaurant.... Silenced
So... I think you do not have to count on me too.... Think

Emmy, I will be glad to help you since I am also watching what I eat now. We won't use the term diet though since I found it makes me want to eat more but I have been able to drop 10 pounds without too much in about a month. I haven't been very good this week but I am not going to beat myself up over it.

The main thing I have learned through all this is:

1. Balance your meals and keep it within the calorie range you need to consume (mine is 1200 calories a day)
2. Limit the "bad" carbs (pastas and breads) but not totally. Eat less and eat them earlier in the day
3. Drink LOTS of water
4. Keep active - walk a lot
5. Don't eat late at night (some say after 6, some say 7 and some say Cool. If you need to eat have something light like salad which is a "free" carb and is filling.

So far it's been working for me and a couple of my friends who have each lost 40 and 60 pounds in 6 months (and they were grossly overweight so it looks amazing on them).

Good luck!

If you say don't eat after 6 or 7 you'll be in trouble in Sicily where the restaurants don't open until 8:30 or 9 pm. I don't think it matters how late you eat as long as you don't eat and go to sleep right away.

I have heard the same thing Gil. The big thing in Italy is that their large meals happen at lunch (the pasta meal, etc) and they eat lighter at dinner. I have always eaten late at night and I *was* always slim but not so much now. I think its important to eat several smaller meals throughout the day and keep the metabolism from slowing down.

Regardless, this is what my friends did and they have been successful.

With that in mind, I am going to have something to eat now - I'm starving...lol

Both of you STOP THAT RIGHT NOW!!!!! you'll have me going to the freezer and having a real treat!
Great Nuccia that you're having sucess. Lately my legs and ankles have been very swollen, and I thought it started about the same time as I had my pain relief pills changed to another type. I asked the Dr two weeks ago if I could go back to the ones I had before and he agreed I could and surprise surprise the swelling has almost disappeared - so it has been a side effect of those pills and yet it doesnt say it could cause that on the instruction leaflet. Think So hopefully I will have lost some weight.
Night time is my worst time especially if I go to bed early to read - I find I get up occasionally looking for snacks -just a bad habit.
But now when I go shopping I only buy what I need and today I felt really good when I got home and had walked past a bakers shop that had lovely fudge doughnuts in the window -I was tempted but resisted - but now I'm thinking a fudge doughnut would be a real treat right now Drool Drool Drool

Emmy a word of advice - the first two weeks are a killer but after that you honestly feel the urge less and less. If I have to snack at night then I count up about 7-14 almonds and eat them so slowly so my brain has a chance to catch up to the fact that I have eaten and am full. On Sunday's I allow myself freebies but I think the main thing to remember is everything is ok in moderation. Eat what you want and what you can, just eat less of it.

I wouldn't eat a doughnut now for just about anything. other than today, this is the best I have felt in a long time. I have more energy, I sleep less often in the afternoons and sleep better at night.

I think I will stick it out for a while and see what happens. Oh, and my girlfriends, both plagued with diabetes, thyroid and high blood pressure have been taken off ALL their medications since they lost the weight. They have been able to control their symptoms with the diet only!

Now that's fantastic and it's what my daughter keeps saying to me, lose weight and calm down and then the pills can go in the bin.
What I'm starting to do is to have some small pieces of fruit ready cut on the bedside table so I dont get out of bed and go to the kitchen -at night if I go to the kitchen that fatal!! but since I've lost that fluid in my feet/legs I feel more comfortable and more positive in my thoughts. glad its working for you and your friends.

Funny how women have the willpower to take control of diabetes and get of meds so fast. Men! We are another story.
