Last night 'Perky' one of my peach faced lovebirds died. It must have been at least over 12 years old because we were its 2nd owner.
'Pinky' the other one looks really lost and it's too old now to put another young one in beside it.
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the fact the little zebra finch is still chirping away in the cage next to it may help, although its not very well at the moment as well- it cant fly up onto its perches yet but it is hopping around a bit more and its drinking and feeding.

Guess this is to be expected now that they are so old but it's so sad to see them go.

Emmy, I so sorry for you loss. My wife's oldest brother and his wife had a peach faced love bird named Angel. The last I knew Angel was living in their freezer. It was a real loving bird.

Can't let myself think about that!! d'oh! guess it will be a bit chilly in there for it - probably make it a bit stiff too Anxious Anxious Silenced Silenced

I buried 'Perky' in a nice part of the garden - in fact if things keep going like this it wont be a garden I have it will soon be a cemetry. I've put markers down where all my pets are buried so I dont accidently go and 'dig them up' when putting in new plants - now that would really upset me Anxious

If there ever comes a day when this house gets sold I guess the new owners should be warned that 'Jack-the -Ripper' was definatlely not the previous owner. Dancing Dancing Dancing

My sister in law froze him as they were moving to another house and wanted him to be with them at the new house. We are going to a picnic there in July and snoop around the freezer or better yet I'll ask my wife if she knows.

Thanks Simy
I must admit I do miss them chirping to each other. It odd too, I had put in two separate nest boxes for them when I changed the cage last year and they always kept to their own box. When Perky died I didnt empty her nest box but Pinky, the one that is left seems to be tackling it for me. She has flattened all the nesting material that was in the box so next week I'm going to empty it and put the box back in a different place in the cage and see what happens. I really wasnt expecting Pinky to survive without Perky being there but so far she's doing ok and has started using the swing and she's feeding ok too.

Gosh this seems to have been a month for losing pets. Just had a 'phone call from my son today telling me one of his dogs died last night (it was old though ) but it was a lovely dog (spaniel).

Bengy seems to be a bit better but at times, especially when he's out in the back garden, it's as though he cant stand for any length of time, and finishes up lying down with his back legs kinda splayed out at the side not how he usually lay down. Must mention this to the vet when I go back with BOTH the dogs - just had a postcard from the vet reminding me that now is the time to get them vacinated again -- (I'm thinking in future it would be easier if I just had my pension paid into the vets bank account instead of mine !! Very Happy )
