Well if you could have been a fly on the wall here tonight you would have fallen off laughing.
It started in the shop where I bought a length of wood to make the back part for some box frames. The strip of wood was too long to fit in my car so I asked the assistant if someone would be able to saw it in half for me so I could get it in the car without it hanging out the back or poking out through the window. Answer 'sorry we're not allowed to do that' (Health and safety?)
I had already bought the glue, a measuring tape (I've mislaplaced the one I've had for years) so there was nothing else for it -I bought a hacksaw and decided I'd cut the wood myself when I got to the car.
Got to the checkout then realised the saw was in one of those plastic sealed cases that wont let you open them no matter how hard you try. So I put on a 'puppy dog face' and begged one of the male assistants for help, he agreed but said he would have to go outside the shop before he could help me d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!
Camera would have been good here!! Finally the saw had escaped from the packaging Half way through sawing the strip of wood (only 1/2" thick') pong' went the blade of the saw- no injury thank goodness. Suggestion from assistant ' ok if I just snap it in half ?' Yes Yes Yes anything to get this wood into the car and told the man how grateful I was for his help.
At home I found the 'vice' I had bought a long time ago- (keep a thing long enough and you do get a use for it!!) and after 20 minutes trying to work out how to unpack this thing I finally fixed it onto my dining room table-(ok not the best place to do joinery work but it was convenient)
Measuring done -fine. Yes I can paint, draw, cook, sew etc etc but could I saw and even edge NO!! Did I give up NO! Was there lots of sawdust all over the place YES!
Maybe if I had had two pairs of hands it would have been better, maybe I was just too tired so tomorrow with what's left of the strip of wood I'll have another go. After all that bother I remembered I had a tool/block I could have used that mitres corners d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!

ps Good point - I didnt damage the table Dancing Dancing Dancing Dancing

Want to know what I did today???

I was sitting watching a shopping chanel on TV and up came this demonstration for a 'magic saw' -Facinating!!- Not too expensive either. So what did Emmy do??
YES she went on line and bought one Dancing Dancing Dancing
Now I'm considering just which part of the furniture I can practise on Think Think Think

Just joking at least I hope I am (by the way i have finally managed to succesfullyfinish making 3 of the box part for the box frames. My sawing skills are improving --slowly but with a wee push there and a wee nip here I managed to get it to fit the frame(laughing)
I'm going to try to send the link but its the demonstration you really need to see - Fantastic!! and the video isnt shown for that item.
