Gil I dont envy you. I think I would have a BIG problem if I ever had to give myself an injection.
After my knee operations I had to have injections into my tummy every day for 2 weeks. Everyone who had the operation got this treatment.
It's only recently when I was talking to a friend who is having a knee replacement it seems now that once you get home from the hospital the distric nurse doesnt go to your house anymore to give the injections you have to do it yourself---thank goodness I had my operations done before that came into place.

Sorry Gil but I just couldnt resist posting this picture white flag

Now if I had a needle like this one that could do the job without me having to do anything then that maybe OK

But all the joking apart it's no picnic having to do that every day and having to watch what you eat as well.
You take care Gil good people are difficult to find those days

That's really great I just wished I could write down that too but if I did then I would be telling 'BIG porkies!!' Very Happy
I guess you really need to be careful re your weight especially with the diabetes. If you did put on/lose weight would that have an effect on the amount of medication you would need to take?

Another problem has cropped up with me today- the part on my leg that I bumped and bruised which then caused the cellullitis- the bruise has never faded! today some blisters are appearing on the skin where the bruise is. My d-i-l who is nurse, has warned me to take care to try not to knock my leg against anything, She said to try not to burst the blisters. Good job I go back to the Dr on Monday. I still believe this may have a lot to do with some of the medication I'm on or perhaps it could be linked to the cellullitis.

Emmy I'm just getting a bit sick of all those niggly problems!!

Wow! So sorry to hear about your leg. A doctor or nurse told me that as we age our circulation slows down and therefore we are more subject to bruising and swelling. Diabetes runs in my family and I always knew about it as my maternal grandmother passed away when she was very young due to complications from diabetes. During and after college I got very heavy, over 230 pounds and I'm only 5'8". When I was first diagnosed I didn't shape up fast enough and kept on smoking. My insulin was lowered a few months ago as I lost some weight. I should really be exercising a lot more and that should help. I really can't do without any ice cream, candy or wine for the rest of my life. Now I take those things in moderation.

That I CAN understand I have a sweet tooth too and although I keep promising myself I'm going to stop buying things for the children(my excuse)
when I see the candy on the supermarket shelves and the icecream in the frozen food section somehow they alwasy seem to just 'jump' into the shopping trolley. Wine? no I never drink any wine at all now not because I dont like it but it doesnt like me.

Gil so long as you do keep it in moderation there is no reason why you cant treat yourself now and again-- now for me - the good Lord would really need to come to my aid if I was ever diagnosed with diabetes because I would find that very very difficult.

I really try hard to limit my intake of the wrong items. Now it is one beer, a small glass of wine, spoon or two or ice cream, etc. Before It was large ice cream cones or cups, many beers, glasses of wine, seconds & thirds on the macaroni, etc!

Dentist visit on Wednesday discovered that I had an infection in my lower right between a tooth and gum. Today it was a bit of surgery by the periodontist. Now home with swollen jaw and a bit of pain.

Thursday doctors' appointments resulted in good blood pressure and good results from tests. Except I have low level of salt and will have to get more tests next week.

Good news today
Blood samples came back OK, really pleased about that.
Dr doesnt know why I'm still feeling tired (he said it could be the medication) ???? re my feet and legs retaining fluid ????? too.
Re blisters I've just to watch I dont knock my leg and if the blisters burst and it gets worse I've to go back. I've still to go in 4 weeks to get BP checked. So I'm not getting 'let off the hook' yet.d'oh!

Emmy it is good to read that your blood tests came back okay. Medication can definately make you tired.

Gil, I want to show my son your post because he is about 5'7 or 8" and has put on a bit of weight (same as you did). He's only 25 and I keep telling him, gently, that he could get diabetes.
