Well hopefully my Dr will have managed to get home from his extended (volcanic ash) holiday by now - I have an appointment on Wednesday and I'm not looking forward to going. So please will you all keep your fingers crossed , that with worrying about Bengy being ill, it hasnt put my BP back up again.

I was worried about my BP because I had been going through some stressful things too Emmy but it turned out to be just fine. If your is up a little please do tell the doctor the stressful things you've been experiencing. It can and does drive up your BP.

Here's a hug and my prayers that you will be fine. I wish I could visit you and reassure you that everything will be fine. hug cross fingers

Hope you got on OK with your visit to your Dr Gil.
My BP wasnt too bad but I've to go back tomorrow again to get some blood tests done (must keep up with Bengy Applause ) - must be honest my feet/legs haven been right since I gave myself that bump on the front of my leg and now feet and legs are swollen again so this is why blood tests are being done.

Thank goodness I'm not going to the vet to get this done- I wont be getting a bill for my blood tests-(maybe I should have taken Bengy to the Dr instead of the vet Think Applause Dancing Very Happy )

Thanks Emmy! I have to have blood and urine tests news given to me to make sure I have my diabetes in control and it is not adversely affecting my kidneys.

Good luck with your swollen legs. Hopefully, your meds will help.

Hey Gil we're a right pair of old crocks Dancing Dancing
Good job we can still keep smiling though Applause Applause Applause Applause
Hope your results come back OK
I still have a suspicion -(a thought in my head) that this problem with my feet and legs is something linked to that bump I gave myself on the front of my leg-maybe the cellulitis resulting from that bump hasnt been 100percent cleared up ?

Think I'll need to apply for a degree 'Self-diagnosis Doctorate'
without the studying of course-just need to tell them I've had lots and lots of practical experience - just need to brush up on all the answers I got wrong:-k Silenced Whistle Very Happy Very Happy Just be like the thing for them to ask me what percentage I got wrong
Whistle Applause d'oh! d'oh!

Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you

Naughty naughty
Be sure you'll sins will find you out!!

My s-i-l has diabetes too controlled with pills -no injections like my dad had to have- and every time she has to go for a check up she often phones me to say "I've had 'such and such' (-always something she shouldnt have had)- last night and I forgot I was going for my check up tomorrow do you think it will be oK" So you're not alone Gil.

All I can say is I'm glad, so far, I havent been diagnosed with diabetes (my dad and my two sisters and my brother all had diabetes hopefully it will continue to bypass me) because I'm sure if I had to go for check ups for that I would be caught out every time!
Good Luck
Emmy

I'll find out the bad news on Wednesday. My Mom was off medication one year after she was diagnosed. She completely changed her eating habits. It was too late as she had already severely damaged her kidneys. Despite this she lived at least another ten years.

I think I was told recently that diabetes can be 'inherited' cant think of a better word at the moment- must be in the genes just hope it still passes me by. Maybe I'll take after my Mother in that respect, she never had diabetes,
Good luck for Wednesday

Gil and Emmy, my husband has diabetes but controls his with pills. He will never test his blood himself so whenever it gets done, I'm the one doing it. I can't believe that with how easy it is use he refuses to do it himself.

Every now and again the doctor will have him fast and get blood drawn to see if he needs his medication adjusted.

Now, no one on my side of the family has it.

I used to just use pills. As I got older I take 24 hour insulin (lantus) and one pill.

I'm worried about him having to go to insulin shots because he said I will have to do it, otherwise he won't do it.

Do you give yourself an insulin shot, Gil?

Rosie, I give myself the shots. You give them in your belly, not in your butt like penicillin! The hardest part is filling the needle as I now have to use my new reading glasses to see the scale. It is a pain during the cold months as I have to undo my pants and lift up my shirt and undershirt. Now that it is warm I wear shorts with polo shirts outside of the shorts so it is easy! I know a kid with Type ! diabetes and he has been know to shoot right through his shirt at the dinner table!
