Please excuse a few words in this video and allow yourself to see the beauty and sadness of it.

I dedicate this to all those who have had to put down a precious fur child.

Sorry I cant get the video links to work on my computer but I do know that it's very difficult to say yes to the vet when he tell's you its the best thing to do and I'm afraid I always opted out and left the decision to others. (Big Coward Me!)
When it comes to human beings though (and I take it that's what the video is about)I'm just not sure I would or could ever do that and perhaps that may make me seem selfish, uncaring or perhaps even inhuman but that 's just me and as I've said before everyone has the right to their own ideas about what is right /wrong and I believe you have to be personally involved in a situation before you understand all the circumstances before coming to the final conclusion.
Me -- I wouldn't even have the courage to give permission to turn off a life-support machine.

The video was designed as a documentary about Oden and his owner who finally makes the decision to have his beloved dog euthanized.

I'm sorry you couldn't get it to work Emmy. I cried my head off watching it.

Actually, it takes a bit of a wait and clicking on it a few times to make it work.

Oh I got that wrong d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!
Well maybe just as well I couldnt watch it .I think I would have to have bought 'hankies' in bulk.
As I said before when we had to make that decision about our previous dog (Jack Russell) who was over 15yrs old I opted out I just couldnt tell the vet ,yes. I left it to my l.husband while I just sat at home and cried my eyes out, I couldnt even go to the vets surgery where the dog was at the time because if I had gone I would have brought him back home with me.
As I said I'm really and truly one big coward.
Tonight I notice my little zebra finch doesnt look too good either-- but I have been told by other people who have bred zebra finches for years that my wee one is way past his sell by date. It seems they have never heard of a zebra finch living to be over 12 years old. This is the last one I have so I'm hoping its just a glitch and he's just feeling 'under the weather'
fingers crossed.

It seems I've always been the one to make this difficult decision. My son and husband came to the vet when I called them for Benny. We had some of his white fur and black tail fur shaved off to save with his ashes.

This is the small price we pay when we bring home a pet and love it like it was our own child.

Emmy, Zebra finches are so beautiful and delicate. It's amazing that yours lived so long. He's obviously been very well cared for by you.
