Happy belated Mother's Day Emmy. My wife will be up and on her way to work before I get up. I tried the breakfast in bed when we first got married and she doesn't like to eat in bed. I don't either.

Oh Gil you cant get off as easily as that.
You can still give her a surprise and be up before her and have her breakfast on the table ready for her before she goes out!

Now dont try and come away with the tale that your wife doesnt eat breakfast before she goes to work

Shame on you Shame on you

Emmy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I really don't think that my wife wants to deal with me while she is getting ready for work. We have two cats. Therefore, can't leave open containers of food around. This schedule has worked good since my wife went back to work, outside of the house, about twelve years ago.

On the other hand I'll be going to the Sicilian bakery for some Zeppole on St. Joseph's day!

Gil, this is either one bad Italian or one bad Catholic, take your pick while you tell me what each thing is. Whistle

Now Emmy, the man says he can't leave any food out because of the cats. Leave food out around here and it'll be more than the cats going for it............. Very Happy They don't get up on the kitchen counters or the table set in there so opened containers would be safe. They do, however, jump up on the sunroom table but they never beg or try to take food like Benny did. He'd swipe his paw right into the food on your plate. I never gave him anything so I'm sure my husband is to blame for that behavior.

Each to their own I guess-- Think Think Think Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
If your routine works Gil better not to change it then after so long so I'll let you 'off the hook'
Our Miss Molly in France has to be kept an eye on too or she would scrounge too but from what I've been told at the moment its baby rabbits she seems to be after Yugh!!
I just love cats and would love to have one or two here but I know Gizzy not so much Bengy would just hate it and I think at 11years old it wouldnt be right to upset th dogs.
As I'm on my own with only my two dogs (and the birds of course) The dogs are too small to jump up onto the table or worksurfaces but they do know first thing in the morning the three of us go into the front room and they sit on my knee and we watch the wild birds have their breakfast too. This is when they get their doggy treat and I must admit after they have had their treat I just sit and have my breakfast/with coffee too with the two of them on my knee, usually they fall asleep.
Life of luxury we all have first thing in the morning in my house. I just hate it when the postman has to ring the bell and disturbs us.
It's just a good job there's no hidden video recorders on in my house Shhh

Emmy, are we playin' tag here?? How are you my lady?? I'm a bad one, so stubborn and all. I need to apologise to you about that "other subject." I can be right stubborn when I'm set in my ways on something even if I'm not right about it. But, I'm not one to keep myself that way very long. Usually I need to sit and think about issues and maybe see the right in them. Buttkick So that's you giving me a good butt kick.

Rosie
We all have our own opinions, we wouldnt be human if we didnt and life is too short to bear grudges and there's no need to apologise, but thanks just the same.

The important holiday in March is Saint Joseph's Day and it is celebrated on his feast day March 19th. Zeppole are Neopolitan pastries made in honor of Saint Joseph.

Basically a deep fried pastry (like a donut) filled with ricotta like cannoli or vanilla or chocolate cream topped off with a cherry.

First Google search found a like to what I'm buying and eating:

Yummmmmmmmmm, wow, good thing I just ate some lunch!!! I had a half of a veggie wrap and a bowl of soy rice with edamame beans. That five milk walk prior to my lunch worked up an appetite.

It's sunny and going to ge up to 62 degrees.

Gil they look delicious. Althgough its not the same as your Zeppole they reminded me of what we made years ago. The 'pastry' was made with yeast dough- like the dough you would make for a pizza - and these were made into a small round ball shapes then flattened and a dent put in the middle and then they were fried in hot olive oil then sprinkled with sugar.
Oh right now I can still remember the smell of them cooking.
Now just you take note of what you have done by posting that beautiful image-- I can see me getting out the ingredients and having a go - but then I just wouldnt be able to resist eating them.
What I do make at Easter is -Dont know the spelling here but I'll write it down how it sounds when you say it --canishoon? They are made using home made pasta. The night before you make the pasta you grate a lot of parmesan cheese and mix in eggs yolks and pepper to make a stiff mixture and leave it to stand overnight. The next day when the pasta is made you cut out circles of pasta and put in 2/3 teaspoofuls of the parmesan mixture onto one half of the circle of pasta then fold over and press down the sides then brush over with beaten egg then cook them in the oven. I did make them last Easter and I think I will be doing the same this year too.
