Well... I have not a real garden, but my father uses the backyard of our office like a small garden. Very Happy
Here's the basil. Sometimes I put some of its leaves on my desk. It smells soooo good!

I think it depends also on the climate. Here in Liguria we have humid and warm weather in summer and I guess that's the "secret" of a healthy basil. I see that if it is planted in other regions, it looks a bit different and it has not the good smell like ours.
Basil from Liguria is very famous in Italy. They say that's the best one.
You and your wife should come here and see if that's true! Dancing

Your basil looks really healthy I like it with tomatoes. I like the smell too. I had some nice basil plants in my greenhouse before I went to France but because of the very hot weather here while I was away, and my son only got up every second day it was scorched with the heat so now I have to start again.
My son left me a note saying that some of my plants in the conservatory had been toasted with the heat and not because they hadnt been given water. I know this is true because within a short time if its sunny the temp. in the conservatory goes sky high and it would have been worse because of the windows and doors being closed but I never expected that we would have had such a heatwave here while I was away. Fortunately the ones that got toasted will grow again once I've pruned them down to the bottom Very Happy

Emmy has the heat and we have the cool rainy weather! I can't wait until Summer gets here and we can complain about the HEAT. Simy, after we visited Genoa a few years ago my wife did fall deeply in love with pesto. I guess they must grow the good basil like you do.

Well Gil I hope the heat is on the way to you now. This afternoon it has rained (Thank Goodness for that) I had hoped it would clear the air but its still muggy/clamy.
Guess we're never satisfied no matter what kind of weather it is Whistle Whistle

Mr. Green

I forgot to say that another thing that makes our basil so good, is the air of the sea, which helps giving it a good smell.

I think that we were there in 2000, I'll have to look it up or better ask my wife later in the day. I do know that it was the year that the helmet law went into effect and before I knew you.
