Yesterday I decided no matter how i felt I was going to plant my garlic. I know it should have been put in earlier but as the saying goes better late than never. So I made a space of about 2metres by 1/2 metre and weeded it (I knew I shouldnt have been doing this and I would get a telling off from the family but I was determined to do it by myself)
Finally about 45minutes later the job was done - Very Happy and so was I Very Happy
I spent the next two hours lying in bed reading a book to recover but the satisfaction I felt was worth it. Better still none of the family found out Silenced and I wont be telling them either.
Now I'll just have to go out every now and again and whisper a few sweet words to encourage the garlic to grow. Very Happy If it doesnt it wont be sweet words it will be hearing !!!!
Silenced

Is your garlic all covered over in snow by now? I saw that Europe is supposed to get some bad snow. Take care of yourself!

Emmy,

You should be taking it easy. I also forgot to plant my garlic this year so I think I may have to pass. Lou used to spend a lot of time on our garden when he was feeling better, but the last few years its not been as easy. I don't mind planting flowers for to care for a full garden (ours is normally quite large) I don't think I am up to it.

As for snow...I think we are expecting more tonight and a few other days this week, yet yesterday was unusually warm for this time of year. I would rather have the snow than the cold temperatures we have been getting which is icing everything over. We have actually seen the snow plows working all weekend trying to clean up the streets which is rare around here...our street is normally forgotten.

Maybe I will even get a parking space this month where I don't have to spend hours trying to get out of (we've been stuck a few times).

Oh joy, oh bliss... Smile

My garlic was covered in snow yesterday but today I think the garlic passed on a message to whoever it is that decides the weather Eh? and said it required a drink so today its pouring with rain (I do think the head of THAT department needs to be given his/hers cards because it seems a BIG mistake has been made somewhere along the line. The seasons have all been mixed up lately. We were supposed to get a really bad day today with very heavy snowfalls forecast but so far its not happened and I hope it stays that way. But even very short distances from my home it has been really bad but I think it was London area that's had it really bad the last few days. All transport had been cancelled in the London area and it seems that many people had to walk for miles in the snow to get home. Many schools have been closed too.
So I'm just hoping the snow will miss my area again but I dont need to go out until tomorrow when I have a Dr's appointment and that's only about 5 minutes drive from my home.
But my family keep phoning to find out if I need anything and they would get it for me.

Twisted Evil Maybe they're just keeping checking up on me to make sure
I've not got some person visiting me without their knowledge

Think (MY my wouldnt chance be a fine thing! but one look at me and they'd run a mile)

Yahoo

Take care and I do hope the weather will improve for everyone's sake
Love and God Bless
Emmy

How is everyone, is everything in your garden looking rosy?

Well would you believe it my garlic IS growing, lovely green shoots have appeared (only one little space where one has decided it wasnt wanting to be used in the cooking pot)
Now I wished I had planted some more. Next year maybe!!

I've now got a row of lovely polyanthus plants in front of the garlic and the colours of the flowers are lovely and the green shoots of the garlic
look lovely behind the flowers.
The weather here lately has been lovely and I've bought a variety of 'plug' plants (Herbs and flowers) and I have a chair in the greenhouse and I go out for about 30 minutes at a time, and yesterday I've finally transplanted them all into trays.

Thank you Simy and Gil
I have a very BIG garden and I cant do it all by myself now but I have someone who comes once a week to cut the grass and do odd jobs and my family help too when they can.
I'd rather be in the garden than do housework that's why I've a plaque hanging in my kitchen which says 'Please excuse the mess but its the maids day off'

Just beautiful! It looks like you have quite a few acres to maintain. I wish my place looked that neat.

Just an update re my garlic:
The green shoots are just lovely and growing well I've planted some more different flowers beside them -- just wonder what kind of 'perfume/smell' the flowers will have being so close to the garlic???? Whistle Whistle Whistle
But I like the smell of garlic when cooking it always reminds me of Italy, just maybe I'll have developed a new type of flower?
Think

Think That sounds interesting.... d'oh! Very Happy So in case you'll have developed a new type of flower, we should find a name for it. Maybe Garlemmy flower?
I like the smell of garlic too. Very Happy
