I joined a while back but have just started exploring around. What an amazing forum, some people I know from Gente and Edmondo's forum, yet a great many I do not (yet).

I live in Agawam, Massachusetts, and have ancestry in the following towns:

Bianco Nuovo, Calabria
Serrastretta (Angoli) Calabria
Curinga Calabria
Novara di Sicilia & Spadafora Sicily
Carini (PA) Sicily ( I have a website dedicated to this town in my sig below)
Agnone, Campobasso
San Mauro Forte
Crispano (NA)
Valle di Cadore (Belluno)
Pieve di Cadore (Belluno)

I have been to Italy 4 times so far, and I hope to go again soon.

I just wanted to introduce myself and compliment Simy on such a beautiful forum.

Jim Ciao!

Thanks for the welcome! Smile

question: Why did I have to shrink my avatar for this forum when I tried to use the one from Gente it told me it was too big? Yours are well beyond the 80X80 size...

Eh?

Jim,
I only live one hour away from you in Connecticut! To be exact, I live in Madison, where the Hammonasset Beach is located.

I was also born in Sicily and hail from Altofonte, provincia (county) of Palermo. Have you been in Sicily yet? I am going there at the beginning of November because my father who lives there (most of the times) is turning 80.

Small world Maria! My best friend has a brother in Madison, the name is Francischelli. Yes I was fortunate enough to visit Sicily in '03 we were in Palermo, Monreale, Carini, Mondello, and Capaci. I can't wait to go back!!

Gee, all the places you list are practically next door to the town where I was born! I just love the Cathedral in Monreale and Mondello has a great beach and Carini is famous for its live Nativity scenes at Christmas. One of my cousins was the pastor of the local church in Carini. Dancing

PS.

I know a Maryann Francischelli in Madison. I wonder if she is related to your friend.

Maryann is my friend's sister in law, she is married to his brother.

Small world!

I have been to the church in Carini and spent a while looking through the records with an elderly priest who was very kind, insisting on giving us a complete tour of the old and new parts. Do you have roots in Carini?

Mondello Beach is beautiful, as is The Monreale Cathedral, I have tons of pictures.

Very Happy
